Watch out: the '$68 to $750,000 trading bot' posts, and another recycled Karpathy video
At least seven accounts posted the same word-for-word story about a 19-year-old Japanese student who built a trading bot with Claude Code in two days and turned $68 into $750,000; the most viral copy had about 119,000 views. Identical text across accounts, with no source, is a classic engagement-bait or scam pattern. Separately, posts claiming Andrej Karpathy said '99% of my coding is automated' with 'Opus 5.5' reuse what appears to be his AI Ascent talk, which we checked on 28 October: neither line is in it. A few more 'free 2-hour course' posts were re-uploads of videos covered in earlier editions. Fact or hype: hype. There's no evidence for the trading-bot story, and the Karpathy quote is made up.
Why it mattersDon't share these with your community, and never pay for a 'bot' or 'course' sold off the back of one. If a story appears word for word on several accounts, treat it as an ad or a scam.
