HYPE OR FACT? · CHECKED 2 NOVEMBER 2026
'A 19-year-old built a trading bot with Claude Code and turned $68 into $750,000'
OUR VERDICT
HypeOur original verdict: “Fact or hype: hype. The same word-for-word story was posted by at least seven accounts with no source, a classic engagement-bait or scam pattern.”
THE CLAIM
“A 19-year-old Japanese student built a trading bot with Claude Code in two days and turned $68 into $750,000.”
What’s actually true
- At least seven accounts posted identical text on 1 November; the most viral copy had about 119,000 views.
- No name, trading record, code or source is given for the student or the bot.
- Identical text across many accounts is how engagement-farming and scam networks push 'get rich with AI' stories, often before selling a 'bot' or 'course'.
- Claude Code can help write trading scripts, but nothing here shows one making money.

Cost
The story is free; the danger is paying for a 'bot' or 'course' sold off the back of it.
