OpenShip, the open-source Vercel alternative with its own mail server, is going viral again
OpenShip deploys and runs your apps, databases and even a mail server on servers you own, from a web dashboard, desktop app, CLI or an AI agent via MCP. It's fully open source (Apache-2.0) and free to self-host, with paid OpenShip Cloud servers from $12/month. Its July launch post (2.6M views) is circulating again after a viral Arabic quote-post on 2 Nov, the same weekend it shipped OpenShip Agents and v0.9.8. About 15,000 GitHub stars in four months.
Why it mattersIt's real, and clustering and database failover, listed as "coming soon" in July, shipped in September. But it's pre-1.0 and mostly one developer's work. The "high email deliverability" pitch needs a pinch of salt: OpenShip's own docs say a fresh server IP has no reputation and recommend relaying through a paid service such as Amazon SES. Our check rates the post partly fact.
