Two reports, not announcements: Anthropic's chip team and DeepSeek V5 on Huawei chips

4 November 2026, 00:26 · 2 sources · Curated by Sara Simeone

The Information reports that Anthropic told IPO investors its 15-person chip-design team uses Claude to design chips, and that the team finds it faster than its estimates for traditional methods. Separately, TrendForce reports that DeepSeek plans to train its next model, V5, on Huawei's Ascend chips from late 2026. Neither company has confirmed the details.

Why it mattersBoth point the same way: labs want their own chips and less reliance on NVIDIA, which over time should mean more choice and lower prices for AI you buy.
