Mistral's Voxtral 3: voice agents that cope with interruptions and switch languages

2 sources · Part of the 21 October 2026 edition

Mistral launched Voxtral 3, new transcription and speech models plus a voice agents API and SDK for building assistants that answer the phone or talk to visitors on your website. It handles interruptions, tool calls, phone and browser calls, more than 50 languages and voice presets in 18 (including British English), and can run on EU or US servers or on your own. Mistral prices the voice agent API at $0.04 a minute with Mistral Small 4 ($0.08 with other models) and says replies start in under a second; the speed is Mistral's own claim.

Why it mattersIt's a realistic, EU-hostable option for a phone receptionist, booking line or website voice assistant at a few pence a minute.
