OpenAI's next security sprint brings in outside researchers and bigger bug bounties

4 November 2026, 00:28 · 2 sources · Curated by Sara Simeone

OpenAI says researchers from Cathedral Systems will join its next internal security sprint, using OpenAI's own models to look for weaknesses, and it has raised bug bounties to up to $30,000 for critical issues (up to $172,000 with bonuses). It gave no dates or scope.

Why it mattersA reminder that AI is now used on both sides of security. If you run a website or app, schedule your own update-and-patch check rather than waiting for an incident.
