OpenAI rebuilt its Git system because agents now write so much code
OpenAI says its new Git backend, Pando, cuts push latency by about 80% (median pushes nearly five times faster) on a codebase that moves nearly a petabyte of Git data a day, and was built so capacity grows with agent use. These are OpenAI's own figures.
Why it mattersA sign of where coding agents are heading: if your team adds agents, expect many more changes to review, and plan the review side, not just the coding side.
