Osaurus plus LFM3: a private AI that runs on your Mac with Wi-Fi off
Osaurus, a free open-source Mac app (Apple Silicon, macOS 15.5 or later), added Liquid AI's new LFM3 1.7B, an open model of about 1 GB that runs entirely on your laptop. Its demo shows the model reading a 'case file', following the money and citing sources. Our check: partly fact. It genuinely runs offline, but the case file is made-up sample data, the agent read it in chunks over 29 steps on a 64 GB Mac, and the video never opens the cited files; LFM3's rankings are Liquid's own claims. Free commercial use only applies below $10M in annual revenue. Privacy note: when online, crash reporting is on unless you switch it off, and the usage-data box is pre-ticked during setup.
Why it mattersA free way to question confidential PDFs without them leaving your laptop. Test it with Wi-Fi off on a few of your own documents and spot-check every citation.
