Granola makes voice typing free in any Mac app
Granola, best known for AI meeting notes, now offers dictation anywhere on a Mac: hold Fn and talk, or double-tap for hands-free, for up to 20 minutes at a time, with unlimited words on every plan, free included. It's a Mac beta for now; iPhone and Windows are 'coming soon'. Two things to know: 'screen context' is switched on by default, so it reads text near your cursor (password fields are skipped), and audio is sent to third-party speech providers that Granola says don't train on it. @kyle's 'goodbye wispr flow' reaction sums up why people took notice.
Why it mattersIf you pay for Wispr Flow or another dictation tool, try this free for a week before you renew, and turn off screen context when working on client-confidential documents.
