BELL: Browserbase's open-source blueprint for a personal assistant

3 sources · Part of the 27 October 2026 edition

Browserbase released BELL, a reference app for building your own assistant: Browserbase for browsing, Vercel's eve as the agent framework, Linq for iMessage and SMS, Stripe's Link for payments with spend approval, and 1Password for passwords. The glue code is MIT-licensed, but the core pieces are paid hosted services, so 'complete open-source stack' is a stretch, and it's developer-only. @ctatedev's take: 'Personal assistants should actually be personal.'

Why it mattersIt shows the safe pattern for delegating to an agent: keep passwords and payment details outside the AI, and require your approval before it spends. Use the same rule for any assistant you set up for clients.
