HYPE OR FACT? · CHECKED 4 NOVEMBER 2026

Boris Cherny's 27-minute talk on how he uses Claude Code: still worth watching?

OUR VERDICT

Fact

Our original verdict: “Fact or hype: fact. It's genuinely Boris Cherny, who created Claude Code, at Anthropic's 'Code with Claude' event, and the advice is practical. But it's 18 months old, as the post says: some commands and keys have changed, and his prediction that people might stop using code editors by the end of 2025 didn't happen.”

How we judge

THE CLAIM

“A 27-minute talk by Boris Cherny on how he actually uses Claude Code, from May 2025, so some commands have changed.”

What’s actually true

  • We watched the full 27-minute video. He introduces himself as Boris from Anthropic, creator of Claude Code, and the slides match Anthropic's 'Code with Claude' event in May 2025. @oaklinelx is a repost account.
  • It's slides and screenshots, not a live demo, with concrete prompts and commands: install, /terminal-setup, asking codebase questions first, plans before edits, 'commit, push, pr', 'claude mcp add', CLAUDE.md, and piping with 'claude -p'.
  • Some slash commands and keyboard shortcuts have changed since May 2025, so check today's docs before copying them.
  • His suggestion that people might stop using code editors by the end of 2025 didn't happen.
