What AI CLI does

AI CLI (npm i -g ai-cli), from Vercel's Chris Tate, adds simple commands such as 'ai image', 'ai video', 'ai audio speak' and 'ai decide' that you or any coding agent can call, with any supported model, for example Claude Code with Flux or Codex with Gemini. It works through Vercel AI Gateway or your own provider API keys and can also run as an MCP server.

Good for

  • Letting a coding agent create visuals or voice-overs for a page or post
  • Batch media generation from the terminal
  • Trying different image and video models from one command
