What Agentcard (opencommerce) does

Payments and checkout for AI agents (YC S26). Vault stores a user's own card, encrypted with a passkey on their phone, so an agent can pay with it after a Face ID approval. Issuing creates one-time or multi-use virtual cards. The Purchase Agent (a buy tool over MCP or API) searches, fills the cart and checks out at real stores. On 30 Oct 2026 it launched opencommerce (opencommerce.sh), billed as 'OpenRouter for commerce': one SDK or buy tool that its site says covers 5,026 online stores, including Amazon, DoorDash and most Shopify stores.

Good for

  • Add a 'buy it for me' step to a customer-facing assistant, with the user approving each purchase
  • Give an internal agent a capped one-time card for a single purchase or subscription

Try this in 10 minutes

  1. Add a 'buy it for me' step to a customer-facing assistant, with the user approving each purchase. Use the free plan: pick one real example from your own business and try just that.
  2. Give an internal agent a capped one-time card for a single purchase or subscription. Put the result next to how you do it today. Is it faster, cheaper or better?
  3. Read the quick-start and note which no-code tools (n8n, Make, Zapier, Claude) it connects to.

Honest take

Some claims not independently checked

  • Developer and B2B infrastructure, not a consumer app.
  • Test with small orders; don't link a main Amazon account.
  • These are not merchant partnerships.
  • Agentcard's DoorDash guide (agentcard.com/blog/ai-agent-doordash-checkout) says DoorDash has no public ordering API and is 'defended against automation', so it uses the user's own logged-in session in a hosted browser.
  • Its FAQ says the Purchase Agent handles CAPTCHAs and OTPs.
  • Amazon's Conditions of Use (Agents section) require agents to identify themselves and forbid completing or getting round CAPTCHAs.
  • Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse, and its suit against Perplexity's Comet continues after the 9th Circuit lifted the injunction (4 Aug 2026).
  • Whether opencommerce identifies itself to stores is unconfirmed.
  • Safety: buy only checks out after an explicit user confirmation; Vault cards are passkey-encrypted on the user's device; Issuing funds are held in USDC on Base and need KYC.
  • Docs: docs.agentcard.com.
  • YC: ycombinator.com/companies/agentcard.
  • Not added to the Personal AI agents comparison: it is infrastructure for agents, not an assistant.
  • The agentcard.com/info page carries a note aimed at AI agents asking them to send X-TPC-* analytics headers; ignored.

What we couldn’t verify

  • Fact vs hype (30 Oct 2026): partly fact.
  • Speed claims differ: thread under 10s, site under 20s, FAQ under 2s with a 99% success rate.
  • UK/EU: merchants are 'mostly US today' (FAQ); UK stores are not confirmed; Vault accepts cards from any country; Issuing works 'globally (with some restricted countries)'.
