Agentcard opencommerce: 'OpenRouter for commerce'

OUR VERDICT

Partly fact

Our original verdict: “Fact or hype: partly fact. The SDK and pricing are live, but the stores aren't partners, and merchants are 'mostly US today'.”

THE CLAIM

“'Today we are announcing openrouter for commerce': a single endpoint that integrates 5k stores, including DoorDash, Amazon and most Shopify stores, with '100% uptime' and 'responses in under 10s'.”

What’s actually true

  • Agentcard (YC) launched opencommerce: one tool that lets a developer's AI agent search, fill a basket, check out and track orders across what its site says are 5,026 online stores, including Amazon, DoorDash and most Shopify stores.
  • The SDK and pricing are live: 1% of each completed order.
  • The stores aren't partners: it checks out using the shopper's own logged-in sessions, and Amazon's terms forbid agents getting round its checks.
  • Merchants are 'mostly US today', so UK stores aren't confirmed.
  • Speed claims vary across its own pages.
