What 1Password does

Password manager (Toronto) that now offers '1Password for Agents', a platform that lets personal AI agents sign in to your accounts without ever seeing your passwords. When an agent hits a login, it identifies itself to 1Password with its own digital key. You see which login it wants and why, and approve it on your own device. 1Password then fills the credentials straight into the site, so the agent never receives them. Integrations: Muse (Meta) and Grok Bot are rolling out over the coming days; Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work/dots and Town Townie are 'coming soon'; Instinct, Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, Kernel, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo and Wajo are 'coming soon' as partners. Agent builders can apply to integrate.

Good for

  • Once your agent's integration is live (Grok Bot and Muse are rolling out first), connect it to 1Password and let it sign in to one low-risk site, such as a supplier portal or a booking site, approving the login on your phone
  • Make a dedicated 'Agents' vault holding only the logins you're happy for agents to use, and check whether the approval prompt shows only those
  • Stop pasting passwords into chat prompts: list which of your recurring agent tasks currently need a login (expenses, orders, invoices) and move them onto the approval flow as each integration goes live
  • If you're a UK user, check your account's sign-in address first: 1Password.com works, 1Password.eu doesn't (yet)
  • Building your own agent or app? Join the 1Password for Agents partner/waitlist page to see the integration requirements

Try this in 10 minutes

  1. Once your agent's integration is live (Grok Bot and Muse are rolling out first), connect it to 1Password and let it sign in to one low-risk site, such as a supplier portal or a booking site, approving the login on your phone. Use the free plan: pick one real example from your own business and try just that.
  2. Make a dedicated 'Agents' vault holding only the logins you're happy for agents to use, and check whether the approval prompt shows only those. Put the result next to how you do it today. Is it faster, cheaper or better?
  3. Stop pasting passwords into chat prompts: list which of your recurring agent tasks currently need a login (expenses, orders, invoices) and move them onto the approval flow as each integration goes live. Note what you had to fix by hand before you'd show it to a customer.

Honest take

Some claims not independently checked

  • The launch post was big.
  • But the X post's 'building with' partner list overstates what works today.
  • Per 1Password's blog, only Muse and Grok Bot are 'rolling out over the coming days'.
  • Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work/dots and Town are 'coming soon'.
  • Perplexity, Browserbase, Browser Use, Ramp, Kernel, Dana, Instinct, Tomo and Wajo are only 'coming soon' partners.
  • The post text also tags some odd accounts (e.g.
  • '@Bot', '@Muse'), and it was edited twice, so treat the tags as unreliable.
  • 'Safeguards and controls vary by integration', and nothing has been independently audited yet.
  • Once an agent is signed in, it holds a live session and can act inside that account, so the approval protects the password, not what the agent then does.
  • Disclosure: Grok Bot (this assistant) is a named launch partner.
  • UK: works for UK users whose account is on 1Password.com (US-hosted; USD/regional pricing).
  • It doesn't work on 1Password.eu (the EU data-residency option some UK users pick) or 1Password.ca.
  • Business/Teams accounts aren't covered at launch.

What we couldn’t verify

  • Fact vs hype: Real and well sourced: 1Password's own blog and press release (22 Oct 2026), plus independent coverage in The Verge, TechCrunch and Engadget.
  • Engadget says a Claude integration was introduced in July; not verified here.
