AI SEARCH TIP · 24 OCTOBER 2026
Make your pages easy for AI to quote, and show a real person keeps them up to date
SISTRIX compared 48,527 pages that ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode and AI Overviews cited with pages on the same websites that weren't cited, about 96,000 web addresses in total from German-speaking sites in spring 2026. Cited pages were more likely to have a visible table of contents with jump links (1.7 times as often, though only 14% of pages had one), Article structured data, five or more subheadings, a genuine FAQ section with FAQ markup, tables with a header row, a question as a subheading, an author box with a photo, a visible 'last updated' date and a short summary at the top, and pages with many of these together were cited about twice as often. An llms.txt file showed no measurable benefit. Remember this is correlation, not proof that any feature causes citations, the data covers German-language sites only, and Perplexity, Claude and Gemini chat weren't included. Try it: pick your most important guide page and add a table of contents, an author box, a 'last updated' date and a short summary at the top.
That's it for today.
