HYPE OR FACT? · CHECKED 3 NOVEMBER 2026

Editing video in DaVinci Resolve with AI prompts

OUR VERDICT

Hype

Our original verdict: “Fact or hype: hype as a demo. It's an animated mock-up, not a screen recording, and it doesn't show how the model connects to Resolve, so nothing here proves it works.”

THE CLAIM

“A few tips for editing videos with Opus 5.5 or GPT-6 Astra and DaVinci Resolve, including colour grading.”

What’s actually true

  • The 46-second vertical clip is an animation with a cartoon mascot; no real DaVinci Resolve interface is shown.
  • It doesn't explain how the model connects to the editor (plugin, script or MCP).
  • The prompts themselves are reasonable to try, such as 'Give this footage a warm, cinematic golden-hour look' and fixing oversaturated skin tones.
  • Try them in an editor with a built-in AI assistant before buying any 'one-prompt editing' set-up.
