What WanGP (Wan2GP) does

Free, self-hosted web app (by developer DeepBeepMeep) for running open-weight generative models locally on consumer GPUs, aimed at the 'GPU poor'. Video: Wan 2.1/2.2 and derivatives (text/image-to-video, VACE control, Animate, MultiTalk/InfiniteTalk lip-sync), MiniMax H3, LTX-2.x, Hunyuan Video, Kandinsky and more; also image models (Flux, Qwen Image, Krea 2, Z-Image), TTS/music (Qwen3 TTS, Ace Step and others) and 3D. Heavy VRAM optimisation (some models from 6 GB), LoRA support, job queue, headless/batch mode, API and MCP for agents, plus a built-in offline agent ('Deepy'). Runs on NVIDIA GTX 10xx to RTX 50xx and AMD RDNA 2-4 GPUs on Windows or Linux.

Good for

  • Generate B-roll and short product/explainer clips without stock-footage or per-clip SaaS fees
  • Animate product photos or brand stills into short social videos (image-to-video)
  • Lip-synced talking-head or mascot clips from a voice track (MultiTalk/InfiniteTalk) for training or internal comms
  • Storyboards and ad concepts to pre-visualise before paying for a shoot or agency
  • Private, on-premise generation when client assets can't be uploaded to a cloud video tool

Try this in 10 minutes

  1. Generate B-roll and short product/explainer clips without stock-footage or per-clip SaaS fees. Use the free plan: pick one real example from your own business and try just that.
  2. Animate product photos or brand stills into short social videos (image-to-video). Put the result next to how you do it today. Is it faster, cheaper or better?
  3. Lip-synced talking-head or mascot clips from a voice track (MultiTalk/InfiniteTalk) for training or internal comms. Note what you had to fix by hand before you'd show it to a customer.

Mini-tasks based on common small-business uses for this tool.

Honest take

No red flags in our notes so far

  • Pair with a note on YouTube's monetisation rules (mass-produced AI video isn't eligible for YPP; realistic AI content must be disclosed).
  • Verified 2026-10-18: ~10.7K GitHub stars, ~1.7K forks, repo created Feb 2025, last commit 18 Oct 2026 (v18.19); ships via README changelog, no GitHub Releases.
  • Install: official one-click .bat/.sh scripts, Pinokio (community 'wan2gp' script recommended), Docker script (Debian/Ubuntu + NVIDIA), or manual conda/pip (Python 3.11, PyTorch 2.10). macOS GPU support not stated (Unknown). mmgp memory library recommends 24-48 GB system RAM (more on Windows).
  • Speed varies a lot: user reports range from ~2 min per 5 s clip on high-end cards to 8-26 min per clip on RTX 3060/4060-class GPUs.
  • README warns that WanGP is not affiliated with third-party services using the WanGP/Wan2GP name; paid third-party installers exist (e.g. a Patreon one-click installer) though the app itself is free.
  • Model weights carry their own licences.

Pricing

Free to run locally (WanGP Community License 2.0, not an OSI open-source licence: free for personal and company use and outputs can be sold, but you may not resell, white-label, embed in a paid product or offer it as a paid hosted/API service without a commercial licence). Real cost is hardware: your own NVIDIA/AMD GPU (6 GB VRAM minimum for some models, 12-24 GB+ much better) plus plenty of system RAM, or rented cloud GPUs billed by the hour.

Prices as listed by the maker when we last checked (2026-10-18); usually in US dollars. Check the website for current prices.
