CODING AGENT / DEV TOOL · WORTH A LOOK
Craft Anything
Free, open-source app from ArtCraft that studies a website, app or game and has your own Claude Code build a clean-room version of it, then checks the result against the original (early alpha).
What Craft Anything does
Craft Anything is a free, open-source app (MIT or Apache-2.0) from ArtCraft, the team behind the PhotoCraft and WordCraft clones. You point it at a website, an app or a game and describe what you want. It studies the original, has a coding agent on your computer build your own version, then compares the result with the original and refines it (Study, Build, Check, Refine). By default it works in "clean room" mode: it only uses what a visitor can see, such as screenshots, visible text, layout, colours and fonts, and never reads the original's code. An opt-in "Deep" mode does read code and files (including with Ghidra) for private use. Building needs your own Claude Code, signed in with your own Anthropic account; a Codex adapter exists but is unverified. It comes as a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux (plus a browser viewer), a command-line tool and an MCP server with 314 tools, so other agents can drive it. It is written in Rust and launched on 31 Oct 2026 in early alpha.
Good for
- Prototyping your own version of a website, app or game from what you can see of it
- Studying how a piece of software works, with the evidence recorded
- Giving an AI agent software-inspection tools through MCP

Honest take
No red flags in our notes so far
- Early alpha: the team says it isn't finished, installers are still being set up and the Codex adapter is unverified. Expect rough edges.
- It doesn't include the AI. Building runs on your own Claude Code account, so Anthropic's usage policy still applies, including its new rule against recreating a specific existing game.
- Clean room is the default, but copying a product's look, name or branding can still raise trade-dress, trademark or terms-of-use problems. Use it for your own projects and learning, not knock-offs.
