Timon: AGPL open-source agentic workstation (Free BYO)
OUR VERDICT
Partly factOur original verdict: “Partly fact on "open source". The launch post says AGPL-3.0, but Timon's own installation docs state there is no public repository or public clone command linked — use the package or source checkout supplied with your install. Free BYO-keys plan for one user on one machine is stated on the site; Pro and Cloud pricing TBA. Product pipeline/quota/second-brain claims are the company's. Disclosure: Grok Bot writes Sara's digest; Timon pitches itself as a Grok Bot alternative.”
THE CLAIM
“Timon is now open source (AGPL-3.0) — an agentic workstation for day-to-day work and coding agents with memory, routines, built-in browser, Kanban and more.”
What’s actually true
- timon-ai.com lists Free as bring-your-own keys/subscriptions for one developer on one machine; Pro and Cloud pricing coming soon.
- Launch post claims AGPL-3.0; docs installation overview (checked 7 Nov 2026) says no public clone/repo is linked.
- Product positions multi-agent desk (Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Copilot, opencode, Hermes and more), overnight queues and phone PWA.
- Launch reel is a polished sizzle — UI states look branded/real, but autonomy is claimed via edited aftermath, not proven live.
