Supabase: give your app its own MCP server
OUR VERDICT
FactOur original verdict: “Fact, but developer-grade.”
THE CLAIM
“'Give your Supabase app its own MCP server': your customers can use your app from ChatGPT or Claude with the account they already have.”
What’s actually true
- Supabase has published a ready-made MCP Server block you add to your project as an Edge Function. Every tool call runs as the signed-in user, so your row level security rules decide what the AI can see, and no master key is exposed.
- It only becomes true after real setup work: TypeScript, an OAuth server, a consent page and signing-key settings. It's only as safe as your permission rules.

Cost
We couldn't confirm on the blog itself whether it's free on all plans; it uses your normal Auth and Edge Function quotas.
USE IT IF
SaaS builders on Supabase with a developer (or a coding agent plus a careful review of permission rules).
SKIP IT IF
No-coders expecting a switch to flip.
