“An Anthropic 'Numbat' model with 14 trillion parameters, 'Mythos-class', has leaked on Hugging Face.”
What’s actually true
- The post reached about 288,000 views. @kimmonismus was among the first to say it was likely fake, because parts of it matched random numbers.
- Forensic write-ups and the Hugging Face repository's own discussion pages found seeded random data; Hugging Face counts about 6.85 trillion stored parameters, not 14 trillion.
- Nothing links the files to Anthropic, and Anthropic hasn't commented.
- It follows the 'Claude Fable 5 weights' claim of 31 October, which also looked fake.
- Never download 'leaked' model files or run their custom code: at best they're junk, at worst they're malware.
