fx0: Vercel's free 'mini v0' for one-page prototypes
OUR VERDICT
FactOur original verdict: “Fact, with a little framing.”
THE CLAIM
“Vercel built a 'mini v0' to show its speed and durability: design or prototype anything in seconds, 200+ models via Vercel AI Gateway, outputs are pure HTML artifacts, forkable, free to try.”
What’s actually true
- fx0 is a real open-source design agent from Vercel Labs that turns a description into a single HTML page you can preview, version, copy, download or fork.
- It mainly exists to show off libfx, the agent library behind Vercel's fx coding agent, which can now carry on after a crash or timeout. It isn't Vercel's v0 product, and the '200+ models' are simply the Vercel AI Gateway catalogue.
- 'Free to try' means free to fork: the hosted demo asks you to sign in with Vercel and pay the model costs through your own AI Gateway account.
