CapCut in ChatGPT: 'coming soon'

OUR VERDICT

Partly fact

Our original verdict: “Fact vs hype: no launch date, regions or pricing announced; treat it as an announcement, not a hands-on product.”

THE CLAIM

“CapCut announced a CapCut plugin 'coming soon' to ChatGPT: start with an idea in ChatGPT, generate and edit a draft video with CapCut inside the chat, then refine it in CapCut's editor.”

What’s actually true

  • No launch date, regions or pricing have been announced for the ChatGPT plugin itself.
  • What exists today is a related official 'CapCut × Codex' plugin, installed by pasting a prompt into Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app on PC. CapCut says 'availability may vary by app version, account, and region', and third-party reports say it's outside the US only for now.
  • Reports that mobile and web arrive mid-November are unofficial and unconfirmed. Many demo posts on X look like coordinated promotion.
