HYPE OR FACT? · CHECKED 20 OCTOBER 2026
'Anthropic engineer builds a harness in 10 minutes'
OUR VERDICT
HypeOur original verdict: “A 2025 Claude Code keynote; the post's quotes aren't in it and nothing is built live.”
THE CLAIM
“A repost claimed an Anthropic engineer builds a harness in 10 minutes, with quotes about '90% of engineers running self-improving loops'.”
What’s actually true
- It's Anthropic's own keynote segment by Cat Wu from the Claude Opus 4 and Sonnet 4 launch (May 2025).
- The quoted lines and 'harness engineering' are not in it, and nothing is built live: it's a sped-up recording of Claude Code spending about 90 minutes adding a table tool to Excalidraw.
