Gemini Notebook adds free textbooks as sources

31 October 2026, 11:57 · 2 sources · Curated by Sara Simeone

Gemini Notebook, the new name for NotebookLM, now has a Textbooks catalogue: hundreds of books from OpenStax, Open Textbook Library and S Chand Publishing that you can add at no cost, then get cited answers, study guides, quizzes and flashcards (Add sources > Textbooks). Our check: true, but modest. The OpenStax and Open Textbook Library books were already free, so the news is one-click import, and it's rolling out in the US and India; UK availability isn't confirmed.

Why it mattersHandy for staff training, for example a business statistics refresher with an auto-generated quiz. If Textbooks isn't showing in the UK yet, download the same free PDF from openstax.org and upload it.
